Snow Day

This is our first snow day since winter began. So far, there is at least 7 inches out there. I managed to bury my boots so I borrowed my husband’s boots so I could go out to the garage to get a shovel. His idea of good shovels and mine differ though so when I get into town, I will buy one. :)

I am working on the rug I started after Christmas. I don’t feel like I have enough color and values but when it is finished, I will have to look at it and maybe do some unhooking.

I have a big Praxis test to take on Saturday. I should be studying for it now. I am thinking we might have tomorrow off though as it is still snowing and the wind hasn’t started yet. The snow is so light and fluffy that once the wind starts blowing, it will be very nasty.

I gave this rug to my brother Jason and his wife several Christmases ago and he sent me this picture to show how it looks in his office. It is a Rustic Rug Design.

Planning summer fun

Jim and I decided to go back to Baldwin City in June. We decided to see about taking a chip carving class. That is why I originally wanted to join the woodcarver’s to begin with. They sure can make some beautiful things.

i am struggling with the Miss Marple Sock. I think it is going to be too tight to go over mt foot. I guess I have a high arch. Jody is doing well though.-S

Valentine’s weekend

I finished two more wash clothes this week. I also finished the cuff of the first sock. It is slow going so far this week. I hope to have some time Sunday to work on my projects. What are you working on Jody?-S

Was reading blogs and found this

Jody you aren’t trying hard enough. Here is your next challenge.

Knit, knit,knit

I have started the Miss Marple socks that Jody thought we should do. I also started a Ravelry group as encouragement. To supplement the project, I checked out several Miss Marple books to read. I know Jody has hers started but she hasn’t blogged about it yet………….-S

Guess what came today

That’s right. It is my order from Knit Picks. Now I will have to start those socks, I guess. Maybe I can wait until the others do. I wonder where I put the pattern……….  :)   -S

Starting a group sock knitting project.

It is all Jody’s fault! She said she and her sister-in-law and someone else are all going to knit the Miss Marple socks and that I had to join them. I ordered the stuff and am now waiting patiently for KnitPicks to get it here. On the creative side, I told her we should start a group on Ravelry about this. She was worried that others might want to join and then what would we do? My thought was just to ignore them :) I’m being silly, of course, but it would be a way we could keep each other motivated as it looks like a hard project to me.

I joined a few more groups on Ravelry. I am up to about 14 dishclothes now since Christmas break. I started another one last night. One group I joined was about knitting a block a month for an afghan. That seemed doable to me.-S

So much for only using what I have in my stash

I planned on only using my stash on my projects but that resolution didn’t last long. I ended up buying more yarn at JoAnn’s on Monday. I came home with baby yarn for some hats and some more Lily cotton for dishclothes. I really need to quit hand knitting soon as my hands are starting to be falling asleep again at times. That usually means it is time to switch to something else and give them a break.

I see my new markers have been shipped by Dick Blick. I found them cheaper after that order and ended up ordering a few more from Cheap Joe’s. :)

My circular sock knitting machine book arrived yesterday. I resolve to get farther on that project. The book has some great pictures showing how to do it step-by-step.-S

Jody, I am so impressed!

Designing and knitting your own cowl pattern and adding beads besides, how cool! Are you going to post it on Ravelry? That should count for several creative things. Maybe you could sell the PDF for a couple of bucks a shot and pay for more yarn :)

I wish I had some of Grandma’s cake that you made. -S

Not as creative this weekend as I had hoped

I had plans for rug hooking this weekend but it came to nothing. I need to  bind off several rugs I have finished first I suppose. I have two rugs that the group hasn’t seen yet as I hadn’t started them before the last hook in. I also have an idea for a personal rug design. I have plenty of ideas, maybe some time this week.-S
